Fall is upon us and it's time to break out the boots and sweaters. But before you do make sure you have these 6 basic fall staples in your wardrobe. If not no problem, they all can be thrifted at any local thrift store.
Having a jean jacket in your wardrobe is essential because the outfits you can create with them are limitless. They can be worn with jeans, dresses and skirts. Jean jackets are one of the items that thrift stores always have in various styles. The jacket I am wearing was purchased for $3 at my local thrift store and it's by Old Navy.
It's funny how I never liked plaid shirts they didn't appeal to me but now they Scream Fall and have earned their way on my fall staples list. When thrifting for a plaid shirt the best place to look for one is in the men's section because you will have a wider range to choose from. Just go a size or two down from your normal size and you should have a perfect fit. (Photo: Plaid Shirt, Lane Bryant $3.98)
Anyone who knows me knows I love a good cardigan sweater. They are one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. Cardigans make it effortless to put together a great outfit. Luckily, I have been able to purchase just about all of my cardigan sweaters from my local thrift store for under $5. Right now, racks are full of them in every color, length, and pattern you can imagine. If you don't have a few good cardigans in your fall wardrobe; head over to your closest thrift store and pick some up. (Photo: Cardigan Sweater, Old Navy, $2.98)
Leopard is now known as a neutral color. If you love wearing black white and grey this is another neutral option. Those of your who has a shoe size 9 and under, your in luck; thrift stores always have leopard flats in these smaller sizes. (Photo: Leopard Flats, No Label, $2.98)
Jeans are a must-have for fall. Boyfriend, Skinny, High Waisted, Straight, Bootcut and the list can go on. They are all needed. We all wear jeans year round; but more so when the weather begins to get chilly. Instead of paying full price, check out your local thrift store. No matter if your short, tall, big or small thrift stores carry jeans for all. I have purchased jeans from Old Navy Plus, Torrid and Lane Bryant from thrifting and paid between $3 -$5 for them. Imagine if I had to pay full price! Nobody got time for that.
One of the easiest and simplest things for your fall wardrobe and to thrift. If thrift stores do not have anything else they have white t-shirts in abundance. You can scoop one up for as little as .50. You can wear it by itself, with your jean jacket, cardigan sweater, a blazer and pair it with jeans or trousers. The possibilities are endless.
Do you have these basic staples already? Are there some that I don't have on my list but you have to have on yours? If so let me know in the comments what they are.
