Now that the new year is here and has settled one of the items on your "out with the old, in with the new" list is purge your closet to make room for new thrift finds and bargains. What better way to pay for those new items then with money from selling your old ones! That's where Poshmark comes in!
What is Poshmark?
Poshmark is a social media marketplace where you can buy and sell fashion, simple and easy. It was founded in 2011 Manisha Chandra and others in Menlo, CA. The marketplace sees about 4 million sellers per day on average, has over 25 million items for sale and more than 5,000 brands to choose from.
How does Poshmark work?
To get started selling on Poshmark first you need to download the app on your smartphone, it is available in both the Apple and Android stores or signup here. Once the app is downloaded, hit the sell button, snap a few photos, add a description along with a price and that's it. Simple right? When your item sells the buyer pays the shipping costs so all you have to do is print out the pre-paid shipping label Poshmark emails to you. This is one of my favorite things about Poshmark, the hassle-free shipping. Once the buyer receives their package and marks it delivered on the app; your funds are deposited into your Poshmark account. When you want to "cash out" (which can be anytime) you can either request the funds be deposited into your banking account or have a check mailed out to you. Poshmark does take a small commission on sales you do make; $2.95 for sales that are under $15 and anything over $15 is 20%.
I started selling items on Poshmark at the end of October and thus far my experience has been great! in a little less than 2 months I have been able to pocket over $1,000 dollars (cha-ching). Also, the Poshmark community is HUGE and everyone whom I have interacted with has been very welcoming and extremely helpful. If selling is not your thng don't worry Poshmark has a place for you too. There are no special instructions needed; just get ready for some AMAZING deals.
And there you have it, Poshmark in a nutshell. Now that you know what Poshmark is and how it works; all you need to do now is take a moment and check it out!
